The activities are part of the GIZ project “Technology Based Adaptation to Climate Change in rural Areas of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan” (TCCA-RA). GAF AG was contracted to assist in establishing the EOL facility and infrastructure. It was also commissioned to support FAZO with intensive capacity building activities, focusing on earth observation and remote sensing technologies. The thematic emphasis lies on mitigating the impacts of climate change in the country. The first six-week training block was concluded successfully in mid-July with positive feedback from trainees and GIZ.
As part of the Committee of Land Management and Geodesy of the Republic of Tajikistan, FAZO intends to use the new EOL as a future hub for earth observation products and services in the country.
The launch event was attended by representatives of several Ministries of the Republic of Tajikistan, GAF experts, GIZ, the Ambassador of Germany to Tajikistan, and various other governmental and non-governmental entities.
